The CBSE released the Secondary and Senior School Curriculum for the academic session 2024-25

Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education released the Secondary and Senior School Curriculum for the academic session 2024-25. Likewise, new textbooks will be published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training for classes III and VI . These are the main takeaways from the curriculum update: Annual Curriculum for Classes IX to XII, the guidelines offer an annual curriculum with the syllabus for examinations, learning outcomes, pedagogical practices, academic content, and assessment guidelines for all classes.

Here’s a breakdown of the key points:

  1. CBSE provides a yearly curriculum for classes IX to XII, including what students need to learn, how they will be assessed, and teaching methods.
  2. Schools must follow the curriculum guidelines, teaching subjects as prescribed and using methods like Multilingualism, Art-Integrated Education, and Experiential Learning.
  3. Schools are advised to align their teaching practices with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education – 2023, focusing on content, teaching methods, and assessments.
  4. New syllabi and textbooks for Grades 3 and 6 are in development by NCERT. Schools should switch to these new resources for classes 3 and 6. Additional support materials are being created to help students transition smoothly.
  5. Other classes will not see any changes in the curriculum for the academic year 2024-25.
  6. Schools are asked to share the new curriculum with students and teachers. The curriculum for classes IX-XII can be found on CBSE’s website.
